Fabulous Flooring Trends for Your Home in 2023

July 06, 2023

Because it’s such a big investment, flooring trends tend to stick around longer than other aspects of home decor, like paint. It’s a big decision, but once you’ve made it, Footprints Floors is here to install it.

2023 Flooring Trends in Atlanta, GA

Do you cringe at the thought of an orange carpet? Round beds? Inflatable furniture? What about a backless couch? While some trends are fun for a quick moment, something that will quickly catch on and then fade isn’t the best option for a significant financial investment in your home.

In contrast, what about that moment in a home renovation show where they pull the carpet up in an old house to reveal the historic hardwood floor beneath? Now that’s long-lasting satisfaction.

Let’s take a look at some of the strongest 2023 flooring trends in Atlanta, GA.

Out With the Gray, in With Other Neutrals

While gray wood and tile were in style for many years — brought on by its heavy use in popular home renovation shows — people seem tired of this trend and are moving on to other neutrals. While gray will never be truly outdated, colors like beige, white and cream have taken over.

Neutrals give a sense of calm to a space. However, if your family forgets to leave their shoes at the door, a lighter color like beige or white may not be the best choice for a high-traffic area.

Neutrals don’t have to stick to whites or beiges. Other trending colors like blush or pale blue can tie a space together and make the room look bigger. Browns and gentle greens can give a natural feel to the room.

Another benefit of neutrals is how they can seamlessly work with the furniture in your home. If you plan on highlighting artwork, furniture, a rug or a stunning view from your windows, a simple floor can balance a room and move the attention to other parts of a space.

Go Big for Your Home

After years of simple decor and design, minimalism is out, and maximalism is king. Mix up your space by making your floors the center point of your design. Maximalism gives you the freedom to unleash your style. If you’ve always wanted a chunky tile, do it. Take everything that you love and make it bigger. That includes stone and tiles. Even large designs have a classic, upscale feel without being gaudy. Maximalism is all about embracing your personality and having fun with the space you have.

Why stop at floors? If you love an art deco tile design, extend it to a backsplash. Or, you can use a material for a wall in your bathroom. Stone is an excellent example of a floor becoming a focal point and design piece. Why have a bland bathroom when you can make yourself feel like you’re in a palace or seaside Italian villa?

However, maximalism isn’t as easy as it seems. If the floor is going to be a star, then you want to ensure it’s done right. Footprints Floors has the skill and expertise to correctly install the materials and make them look how they’re supposed to. Flooring materials can be expensive. You don’t want to ruin them by installing them incorrectly on your own. Especially when it comes to tricky designs, it’s best to leave it to the professionals to do it right the first time.

Hardwood is a Timeless Classic

Hardwood floors have never gone out of style. Part of this is because wood can be versatile. Different woods provide light and dark options, as do stains, so you can give a room the feel you want. Hardwood is also durable. Once it’s installed by Footprints Floors, it’ll last a long time.

Want some texture? You can add dimension through the wood. Wire brushing can also create one-of-a-kind grains.

Wood is the perfect fit for a high-traffic area because it’s built to last. There’s a reason why it’s seen in so many historic homes. Hardwood is a generational investment in your house, as well. It increases the value of your home. And, with highly competitive pricing, it’s a financially accessible and eco-friendly material.

No Matter the Trend, it Needs to be Right

Be confident in your decision. Maybe it’s not the newest trend. Perhaps it’s a classic. Maximalism, neutrals or hardwood may not be for you, but no matter what, your flooring needs to be installed correctly. Don’t risk ruining a design by damaging a project while doing it yourself. Trust the professionals!

Footprints Floors does not sell flooring material, which helps keep our costs low because you don’t have to pay for our warehouse space. You can choose whatever material you want from whatever business you want. The freedom is up to you to flex your creative muscles. We’ll take over from there, whether installing your flooring or working on staircases, baseboards or refinishing projects. Contact us today to schedule a free estimate for your project.

I spent most of my professional career as an I.T. Professional Services Program Manager. I have worked for many great companies such as IBM, Cisco, The Home Depot, Synamedia and BetterCloud to name a few. After my wife was brave enough to make a career change from Corporate Accounting to an AMI Certified Montessori Teacher (and loves it!), I decided that it was time for me to make a change as well. I have always been an active DIY'r and HGTV junkie and felt that I missed my true calling for construction management. After searching for several years, I decided to make a career change and opened my Footprints Floors franchise in 2021. I really enjoy helping my customers complete their projects to improve on their most important asset; their home. I believe that all customers deserve an honest, reputable and fair contractor that will aspire to deliver 5 star results. Those are the principles that guide me daily.

I have a wonderful wife, 2 young adult children, 2 cats, a sassy Husky and have resided in the Atlanta Metro area for the past 18 years. I am an avid runner and also love to roller skate, hike, kayak and play in the dirt.
