Celebrating New Beginnings: Tabitha & Enika Graduate to Level 2 Housing
At First Fruits, we are committed to standing alongside our nonprofit partners who are making impacts in the lives of individuals and families. One of our long-standing partners, Open Door Ministries (ODM), is doing just that.
In celebration of its 27th anniversary, Open Door is continuing its mission to restore Denver by helping individuals experience the life-changing power of Christ and the support of a loving community.
This month, we are thrilled to share the stories of two remarkable women, Tabitha and Enika, who have successfully graduated from Open Door’s Still Waters Housing program and transitioned into Level 2 Housing. These stories reflect the kind of transformation that inspires and energizes our collective mission.
A Step Forward
The journey to self-sufficiency and lasting freedom from addiction is full of challenges. Among those challenges, one of the most significant is finding stable, affordable housing after completing a transitional program.
With skyrocketing housing costs in Denver—where one must earn $173,000 annually or work over 70 hours a week on minimum wage to afford housing—it’s clear why this need is critical.
Open Door Ministries recognized this gap and responded with a solution: their Level 2 Housing program. This initiative offers affordable, sober, and supportive housing that bridges the gap between transitional programs and full independence.
With houses like Magdalena House and Antioch House, these Level 2 homes provide a flexible environment to nurture personal growth, accountability, and a community for graduates like Tabitha and Enika.
The Journeys of Tabitha & Enika
Tabitha’s and Enika’s stories are powerful testaments to what God can do when we come together as a community to provide hope and opportunity for those most in need.
Tabitha’s Story:
Tabitha faced overwhelming struggles before arriving at Open Door. In her own words,
“[Before coming to Open Door], I was in complete despair. I was in and out of mental institutions at least eight times over the course of a 10-month period. I also spent four months of that time in jail.”
But through the support and Christ-centered care she received at Open Door’s Esther House, Tabitha found healing and hope. She’s now walking in mental freedom, continuing her counseling, and has moved into ODM’s Antioch House, where she’s taking the next steps toward living a full, healthy life.
Enika’s Story:
When Enika entered Treasure House, she was eight months pregnant with her second child, Ezriah. At the time, her struggle with substance abuse was so severe that she felt unable to care for her child and considered not keeping him. Today, Enika has maintained her sobriety for over two years and is embracing her role as a mother with renewed strength and purpose.
Ezriah is now a thriving two-year-old, and they are both moving into Victory House, a Providence Network program similar to Open Door’s Level 2 Housing. Enika’s journey is one of breaking free from addiction and embracing God’s grace and love.
The Heart of Restoration
The success of women like Tabitha and Enika is at the very heart of Open Door Ministries' vision: to see a restored Denver overflowing with the vitality of hope and Christ. First Fruits is honored to support programs like Open Door that address immediate needs and foster long-term transformation.
We rejoice with Tabitha and Enika as they move into this new season of their lives, equipped with the tools, faith, and community support they need to thrive. Their stories are a powerful reminder that by God’s grace, transformation is possible—and together, we can be part of the change we long to see.
