Gene Hawk
Owner - Central Florida, Tampa
Gene is from Alabama; his father was in the Air Force and his mother worked in a government position. After leaving the Air Force and until he was in high school, his father was a small business owner. Gene observed and learned a lot about great customer service, integrity, dedication and doing quality work from both his parents. A church trip, led his parents in a totally different career path and they became house parents at a faith-based children’s home where Gene and his sister shared their parents with ten other children from all walks of life but all equally in need of a compassionate and a caring home. This experience would set Gene’s life compass in the right direction. Over the years, as Gene went to college, he started his own career and family using all he learned from his parent’s experiences raising hundreds of kids in a way that changed each of their lives in a positive way forever.
After high school, Gene worked with floors and at two national home improvement chains where he was the youngest manager in company history at the time. Gene continued his education earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree. His primary career was in law enforcement, having worked at the city, state, and federal levels. Gene’s work as a federal agent led him and his family from Columbus, GA, to the Caribbean, Washington, D.C., South America and finally to Central Florida. The last 15 years of Gene’s law enforcement career was as a supervisor, executive leader and diplomat in Washington D.C. and South America. After retirement, Gene was looking for his next adventure and found it at Footprints Floors.
During his travels, Gene was blessed to happen upon his beautiful wife Maribel in San Juan, Puerto Rico and they have five incredible children. Today, Gene and Maribel with their youngest son Kolton, who is still in school, enjoy beautiful Central Florida.
Gene is following in his father’s footsteps as a small business owner and both of his parent’s spirit to go where life takes you. In his spare time, Gene enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, the beach, and spending quality time with his family. Gene is excited to be able to bring the professionalism and quality of Footprints Floors to Central Florida.
