Contrary to what you might think, you do not need experience with floor refinishing or any other contractor experience.

We’re looking for people with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, excellent management skills and a unique ability to problem-solve and multi-task. Our top-performing Franchise Owners had no prior experience and most came from white-collar backgrounds!

We offer each of our Home Improvement Franchise Owners the following types of ongoing support:

  • Marketing (which is unparalleled in the industry!)
  • Corporate call center
  • Ongoing operational support
  • Accounting and financial coaching
  • Subcontractor hiring support
  • Sales and retention

In addition to ongoing support in these areas, the Footprints Floors corporate team manages 10 online construction portals, Google AdWords, social media platforms, territory-specific websites, and lead generation. That way, you can focus on managing the day-to-day operations of your business and building relationships with clients.

From helping you open your business to beyond, our knowledgeable team of support staff will be available every step of the way to ensure your success. We are always ready to offer assistance with anything you might need.

Our corporate team manages the following for our Flooring Franchise Owners:

  • We create and manage ten specific online construction portals, such as Home Advisor, Thumbtack, and Angie’s List, that have been tested by our corporate territories
  • Google AdWords is turned on and managed by our Corporate Team
  • ALL social media platforms, including Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and Instagram
  • Territory-specific Websites
  • Lead Generation

One of the great things about our Franchise Owner support model is that you’ll never be solely responsible for generating new customer leads! But of course, our most successful Home Improvement Franchise Owners regularly put time into local marketing and finding new prospects as any business owner would.

We’ve perfected the art of lead generation, meaning Franchise Owners have customers the very first day they launch their home flooring business. Not only that, but they also have the added benefit of our corporate call center. Franchise Owners send the corporate team their availability schedule, and the call center will only schedule appointments during those times.

That’s okay – we aren’t training you on how to restore floors. Instead, we’re teaching you how to run and lead your own flooring business! Our home improvement business model utilizes subcontractors who will complete the jobs that have been assigned to you. Where you have zero experience, these guys have YEARS of it and have done thousands of jobs. There’s nothing to worry about!

We will train you on the best practices for hiring and handling a subcontracted crew. Footprints Floors home services franchise has a stellar reputation amongst customers and subcontractors. We are known for being easy to work with, paying well, and paying on time. Building a strong relationship with a subcontracted crew will prove to be beneficial for all parties involved.

A typical week as a Footprints Floors franchise owner involves many different tasks.

On Monday and Tuesday, you’re taking estimates. Once a price is agreed upon with the customer, you collect 50 percent of the fee up-front, which will cover all construction costs.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the subcontractors will complete the flooring jobs that were agreed upon.

On Friday, with the flooring jobs complete, it’s time to collect the remaining customer payments and pay your subcontractor crews for another week of great work.

Saturday and Sunday – nothing. You get to enjoy your weekend with no work!

Yes, Franchise Owners in the Footprints Floors system pay a monthly royalty equal to 6% of gross sales. The fee entitles you to continued use of the Footprints Floors name and trademarks, access to our operating systems, new product development, ongoing training, and support, and other benefits that come along with being a Home Services Franchise Owner within the Footprints Floors Franchise organization.

We are proud of our highly systematized training and onboarding program for new Flooring Franchise Owners. As a result, we can get our Franchise Owners up and running in just 6-8 weeks, with estimates coming in the first Monday after training ends and checks being collected at the end of that week. Having an entire, fully-formed business up and running in such a short time is virtually unheard of in the home improvement industry, but we make it happen!

To begin, home services Franchise Owners will only need 2-3 subcontractors ready to perform flooring installation jobs. A Franchise Owner will be able to run the flooring business without any office staff until a couple of years into the business when they will want to hire a Production Manager to assist with field management. Then, as the business grows, Franchise Owners will add more subcontractors and Production Managers as necessary.

Footprints Floors is positioned perfectly between a big box store and a mom-and-pop retailer. The big-box stores make their money selling products and outsource the labor, causing prices to become much higher. Mom-and-pop retailers are usually extremely busy selling and installing products, and can’t provide the professionalism customers expect. Footprints Floors fills the gap by providing installation that typically costs 20% less than a big box store while maintaining a level of professionalism that a mom-and-pop could never offer. This franchise business model is why we are seeing so much success!

No, Footprints Floors is a home-based flooring business model with no need for expensive real estate or leases.

Absolutely! For individuals with the right skill sets, we offer a discounted Franchise Fee when purchasing multiple flooring franchise territories right off the bat.

While Flooring Franchise Owners can work with both residential and commercial customers, the bread-and-butter of our business is typically residential. We typically work with middle to upper-middle-class families looking to restore or redo the current flooring in their homes.

The top two business expenses are typically labor (paying the crews) and marketing to obtain new customers.

While we do allow for semi-absentee franchise ownership, you will need to know who your General Manager will be before starting the Franchise Discovery Process. This needs to be someone you have worked with in the past. This person will become the face of your flooring installation business and you need to make sure it is someone that you trust completely.

Yes! The home renovation industry is worth over $27 billion, and flooring is a huge part of that. Joining the industry through a franchise can be very profitable. In 2021, our multi-unit Franchise Owners saw Average Gross Sales of $1,794,122 and an Average Gross Profit of over $801,178.

A franchise is a company that opens locations around the country to sell products or services with the help of individual franchise owners. Franchise owners hire their employees locally to take care of day-to-day operations.

There are hundreds of franchises on the market, including dining options like fast-food restaurants, hair salons, daycare centers, spas, accounting, home improvement, and more.

Not necessarily! Some franchise owners choose to be owners and operators of a franchise, which helps save them costs on hiring additional employees and allows them to connect with their clientele. Others prefer to work part-time in their business in a “semi-absentee” model.

This allows owners to take advantage of more flexibility while maintaining a connection with the company’s daily operations. For owners seeking maximum flexibility, the “turn-key” model allows them to hire full-time managers to maintain the business while they supervise more from a distance and spend less time on site. There truly is a franchise model for every kind of owner.

While there are no guarantees that a franchise will turn a profit, franchises have a higher likelihood of profitability than individually owned and operated companies. Franchises are more likely to remain open, and most franchises report earning a profit each year.

As they begin work, franchise owners can draw on a tried model for success and benefit from access to experienced mentors. However, owning a franchise does require lots of work, and new franchise owners should plan on dedicating time and effort to ensuring the success of their franchise.

The opening costs of each franchise vary. Potential owners should consider initial costs and other costs for operation over time and what costs they are expected to cover. For instance, initial costs include the franchising fee (which allows each owner to use the franchise name and branding), equipment needs and location requirements.

Ongoing costs include the number of employees required, royalties to the franchise, and general costs of maintaining the location, licenses, inventory, and more, depending on the business.

Franchise owners need to do their research before investing in a franchise. This includes researching the industry of the franchise overall as well as the success of each franchise. Additionally, franchisers should consider the company’s culture and their own interest in the goods or services provided by the franchise. You can typically request information about a franchise from the company if you want to learn more about the business model, revenue, etc.

No, but it helps! After all, owning a franchise requires lots of work, especially in the first few years. Selecting a franchise with a model and product that resonates with you can make your job more fulfilling.

While the process can vary for each franchise, there are some general steps that potential franchise owners can expect after they’ve found a franchise they’d like to invest in. First, the franchise will interview potential owners to ensure the owner is a good fit for the company.

The franchise will also review the financial preparedness of the prospective owner before awarding a franchise. Once initial interviewing and checks have been conducted and the franchise is awarded, owners are given support from experts in the franchise.

These experts generally help owners select the location for the business, provide contractors that help outfit the new location, and conduct training for the owners themselves. Franchises typically provide additional support for owners as they host a Grand Opening and during the first weeks or months of operation. Most franchises provide ongoing support even after the franchise has been established within the community.

Experience within business ownership or management can certainly help franchise owners have a leg up as they start. But most franchises don’t require owners to have any previous experience in the industry to open a location. Regardless of past experience, the most successful owners tend to be those with entrepreneurial drive, creativity, and great people skills.
